Dear Readers
Hope you all are doing well!
This opportunity is nothing lesser than divine blessing to write about the spiritual guru Shri Ramana Maharishi.
He was born in different part of Tamilnadu before reaching Tiruvannamalai. To those who dont know Tamil, Tiru means respect and Annamalai means sacred hill of Lord Shiva.
One day when he was at his native, He was able to experience the death. This is not possible to normal human beings like us. This incident made him to realize the reason for this birth, left home and reached Tiruvannamalai. He never moved out of Tiruvannamalai after that. He was doing the meditation at the sacred hill for many years.
Sometimes, he used to do the meditation at the Arunachaleswar temple itself. Later on, An Ashram was built at the bottom the hilll in which he meditated. His main teaching is "find the god within you". Unlike other Guruji, those who used to talk about various rituals, formalities, vedhas, etc. Maharishi remained silent most of the times. All his followers kept on visting his Ashram just to see him.
Everyone around him felt the divine connection between them and the Maharishi. One day, one foreign couple who settled in Tiruvannamalai invited Maharishi for a lunch. Maharishi never moved out of Ashram as he did not want to upset the thousands of followers visiting him daily, so he did not go for the lunch.
Maharishi appeared in the dream of the couple and said that four of his followers would come to the lunch on behalf of him. Similarly, four people in his Ashram felt the same that night. Before going for the lunch, all of them went to the hall in which Maharishi was seated with his followers. He gently looked at them, and it conveyed the message clearly. Words are never required for any of his followers.
For a common man like me, doing meditation and staying calm is something impossible. I have tried it many times and eventually failed. His example really shocked me and made me realize that everyone can do that. We sleep every day for about 8 to 9 hours. During that time, has any of us felt our presence.
Only after waking up, we say that we slept. That means you are not here. Your mind goes somewhere else, you don't know who you are, what you do, where you live, etc. Completely zero consciousness.
The most meaningful question from Maharishi "Who Am I".
This physique is not me.
The thoughts are not me.
This Mind is not me.
The activities of the physique and mind are not me.
The one thing that remains after realizing all these is me or the divine force.
Thanks for reading!
