My Opinion about NEET Exam

            Hope you all are doing well! Let's talk about NEET exam today.

            Except TamilNadu, all other states seem to have accepted the NEET exam and train the school students accordingly.            

            It is undoubtedly clear that it is not just an exam and also a door to the students who would like to pursue medical science as a course and to become a most respected medical professional in the society.

            Almost a decade ago, NEET exam was made compulsory by the Apex court of India to ensure no irregularities in the medical seat allocation to the deserving students.

            Before this exam was introduced, Students had to write different exams for different institutions and there was not enough transparency in the college admissions. 

            Once NEET exam into place, It has really become a trouble to those who got the medical admissions via backdoors. Of course, it is not to be neglected that rural students find it difficult as most of them come from a different syllabus. 

            Recently I had an opportunity to discuss with one of our family friends, whose son has recently cleared the NEET exam and he is now eligible to secure a seat in one of the government colleges. you may be surprised to know that he has been trained for this exam for the last two years. He had to have a unbelievably tight schedule (8 AM to 9 PM) for the last two years in a leading school in Chennai.

            I assume that they spent around 8-10 lakhs rupees to complete the schooling in that period. To be frank, this story clearly tells that under privileged can't afford to get a admission in a leading school in Chennai and so their medical may be at risk.

            Even if there is no NEET exam, they could not get medical seat as it was not fairly allocated and It was completely dark area. Now, they have got an opportunity that if they can clear the exam they will surely become a doctor. I used to see this kind of encouraging news then and there in the media. So, in my view, with NEET under privileged has got an opportunity now which was never the case without NEET.

            Eliminating NEET is not going to solve any problem, as we have similar exams for every single top positions in the society. UPSC exam for government bureaucrats, Judiciary exam, TET exams for teaching professionals and so on. This is nothing different from them. Most importantly, ensuring the  highest level of transparency and efficiency in the exam is highly important as it decides who should become a medical professional when hundreds of thousands of students compete for it.
